Frequently Asked Questions

Just a few of the questions we get asked about flooring from our customers.

How do I maintain a Real Wood Floor?

Regular cleaning and maintenance will keep your real wood floor looking at its best. We will advise you on what products to clean your floor with, as the products will differ depending on whether your floor is lacquered or oiled.

Dry sweeping the floor regularly will help remove a build up on dust and dirt, a slightly damp mop will help remove any tougher patches. Occasionally you may have to get your floor cleaned floor professionally, refreshing of the finish with a gloss polish will revitalise your floor.

What are the payment terms?

Normally we ask for 50% of payment up front with remaining 50% when the flooring has been installed. All payments are made direct to us and we look after the rest.

I’m not sure if real wood flooring is suitable in our home?

Real wood flooring can be installed in almost any home. Before Real Wood flooring can be installed, there is the subsurface to be mindful of. The sub surface is the floor beneath the real wood will be laid upon. Correct preparation of the sub floor will result in a better installation and prolong the life of your new flooring.

Can I measure the room myself?

You can measure the room yourself for a rough estimate, but we still need to undertake our own measurements. We will confirm the exact amount of flooring required and check for any subsurface preparation while there. We don’t want to give you any costly surprises on the day.

What if I’ve had a cheaper quote from someone else?

We will price match any like for like quotation. Simply send us a copy of the quotation and providing the flooring is the same and the installation hasn’t changed we will match the price.

What are the different types of carpet fibres?

Wool: Fabulous resilience to soiling, stains and flammability. Long lasting, easy to maintain and also provides natural insulation for winter months. Many of our wool carpets are often a blend with manmade fibres adding both durability and strength.

Polypropylene: Ideal for busy households, polypropylene carpets boast fabulous stain resistant properties, cleanable with a diluted bleach solution. A hardwearing manmade carpet fibre that resists fading and above all is affordable.

Nylon/Polyamide: Hardest wearing synthetic fibre that has a longer lasting appearance, usually the fibre used for bold colours.

How is Vinyl Flooring Installed?

There are 3 methods of installing Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT). The first is glue down. These tiles are stuck down directly to the subfloor, much like the installation of traditional roll vinyl. The second option is similar to laminate installation. This is locking system, meaning you lock the tiles on top of an underlay as a floating floor. The last type is looselay, a new innovative way on installing vinyl. This is where the back of the boards has a grip backing that keeps them in place.

Jason and all his staff are extremely helpful, and go out of their way to provide excellent customer service. We had a problem with sourcing replacement flooring due to current international delays, and Jason was really helpful in helping us find a good alternative solution. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Highly recommend Florstor – helpful staff in the store, really competitive pricing (like-for-like 25% less than a n alternative quote) and they came and fitted carpets and flooring at times that suited us. We’re very pleased with the results.

The guys from Florstor came and laid some Marmoleum flooring in a kitchen extension a couple of months ago. The quote was very reasonable. When they came, they were very happy to lay it in the somewhat unorthodox pattern we asked for. When we had an issue, Chris was very proactive in finding out what went wrong and went to great lengths to make sure we were happy. Overall – great value for money and great customer service. Strongly recommended.
